Chemical peeling is a therapeutic treatment used to improve the appearance of the skin and is normally performed on the face, neck and hands. As one of the most popular beauty treatments, it can be used to treat the following skin conditions:
Acne: A superficial chemical peel works to exfoliate the skin, allowing for dead skin cells to be removed more effectively as well as reducing the excess oils. This action also unblocks the hair follicles and pores improving the appearance of pimples and skin texture damaged by acne.
Lentigines: Also known as liver spots, or age spots, Lentigines are dark spots on the skin which often appear as a result of sun exposure in areas including the face, arms and neck. Following a course of chemical peels, these large freckles can lighten – improving the overall appearance of sun damaged skin.
Melasma: As a type of dark skin discoloration, Melasma is common in women who are taking hormonal treatment (such as contraceptives or Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)) and those who are pregnant. The patches are commonly found on the cheeks, nose, lips, upper lip and forehead and can be lightened by a course of chemical peels.
Hyperpigmentation: As one of the most common skin conditions, hyperpigmentation can be caused by excess pigment in the skin, resulting in an uneven skin tone. However, following a course of chemical peels, this can lighten the excess pigmentation – resulting in an overall even complexion.
Chemical peeling can also be used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles (particularly under the eyes and around the mouth) and to help soften the skin texture.
Here at Fresh Faced Aesthetics, our Superficial Peels are also suitable for all skin types, including ethnic skin types. They are also good preparation for medium and deep peels – as well as all serial applications.
